Open Access Colonoscopy & Endoscopy at Rosemont Endoscopy Centre

Rosemont Endoscopy Centre is a specialist gastroenterology hospital bringing the community of Wollongong and the Illawarra region first-class medical care. For more than 20 years, our hospital and its Gastroenterologists have offered patients and referring GPs more efficient and direct access to colonoscopy and gastroscopy procedures via our Open Access Program. The direct referral process mutually benefits you and your patient by streamlining the diagnostic period and removing the initial consultation fee. Based on our Gastroenterologist’s report, you can then focus on post-procedural health recommendations, allowing you to retain control of your patient’s care.

About Rosemont’s Open Access Program

Open Access is a program Rosemont Endoscopy Centre offers to prioritise the health of your patients. By eliminating the initial specialist consultation, procedural wait times and out-of-pocket costs are reduced, and recommended healthcare plans can be put in place more promptly to improve patient health outcomes.

Digestive health issues or more obvious symptoms like blood in the stool can be alarming for patients, causing distress and anxiety. Open Access allows doctors in the Illawarra area to book their patients in directly with Rosemont’s Gastroenterologists to access priority, expert care. Procedural results and specialists’ recommendations are then provided to the patient upon discharge and to the referring GP within 24 hours, keeping you well informed to fast-track your patients’ health care outcomes.

Rosemont Leading the Way in Detection and Satisfaction Rates

Performing at the highest standard with advanced technology and clinical equipment, patients can have confidence that Rosemont’s team of world-class Gastroenterologists diagnose, treat and manage all gastrointestinal disorders with industry-leading detection and satisfaction rates.

Following best practice medicine, Rosemont’s team digitally record all colonoscopy and gastroscopy procedures and provide referring GPs with a comprehensive outcome evaluation and recommendation report within 24 hours of the patient’s procedure.

What are the benefits of Rosemont’s Endoscopy and Gastroscopy Open Access Program?

Our Open Access Program offers numerous benefits to both patients and GPs, making it an attractive and efficient referral pathway for your patients to access specialist care.

Under our Open Access Program, patients do not require an initial consultation to see our next available Gastroenterologist. Patients can book in directly for their endoscopy or gastroscopy, provided they meet our admission criteria. Please note that patients with co-morbidities must attend a specialist consultation before their procedure.

As the patient’s referring GP, you will be sent a postprocedural evaluation report, including treatment recommendations from our Gastroenterologist, within 24 hours of your patient’s procedure. Patients are also provided with this report upon discharge.

Open Access eliminates the need for a specialist consultation before an endoscopy or colonoscopy, meaning your patient receives the prompt specialist care they need, usually within 14 days. This helps to reduce the stress and anxiety associated with their gastrointestinal symptoms and ensures they have access to care in a timely manner.

Removing our Gastroenterologist’s consultation fee is well received by patients who are freed of the added cost (when it is deemed clinically unnecessary).
